What are these people looking at? Manatee! We saw the tail of a Manatee. Someday we hope to see the entire body.

04.15.2010 Kennedy Space Center

4.12.2010 we spent two days at Harbor Square Marina on Merritt Island. The dockmaster Duncan lent us his truck so we could go to the Kennedy Space Center.

We saw an gator and Andrew jumped out of the truck to take a photo. My heart stood still thinking about the big Moma gator waiting for her Kodak moment.

Little gator swam off and Andrew returned to the truck unharmed.

04.11.2010 - 04-12-2010

04.11.2010 we anchored at Jensen Beach on the south side of the causeway. It offered little protection from the 15 to 20 MPH wind. I know how my permanent press clothes must feel when I wash them on the regular cycle – wrinkled and twisted. I’ll need ironing in the morning!

04.12.2010 A Golden Looper hail us and directed us to a good holding area at Dragon Point

That mashed up green iron on the shore line was once a dragon statue.

This structure must have been grand in her day. I don't know why the town hasn't renovated both items.

We saw a rainbow on our way out of the anchorage.

Hey look another American Tug is following us!

Forgotten"s Captain is Robert Hall. He is from Canada and has a dog and cat on board.

Hey Andrew, look where Robert keeps his fenders. We need to move ours.

Oh, honey, I think I see our next boat.

The small one in the middle will do nicely.

Visit with Marge

Me, Marge and the tarpon Nat caught.
Take 2

04.10.2010 we docked at Palm Beach Yacht Center the boat traffic made it rocky but it calmed for the overnight. The Center’s female dockmaster could easily be perceived as cranky and in the wrong line of work. Enough said!

The purpose of this stop was to visit my mother’s dearest friend, Marge, in Green Acres (Lake Worth) Florida. Her house is 11 miles from the marina so we decided to go by cab. The ride over was hairy at times. The cabby liked weaving in and out of traffic but disliked stopping for red lights. I got the feeling he might be related, at least in attitude, to the dockmaster. Why should a cabby make an 11 mile ride pleasurable for his passengers? Bigger tip!

It was great to see Marge’s smiling face greet us at the door. We chatted for hours drinking homemade 100 proof lemonchello. Hunger was taking its toll on Andrew so we decided to order pizza.

It turns out that ordering a pizza for delivery is quite a process in Green Acres. It’s not as simple as calling Domino's. First Marge consulted with several neighbors to get confirmation on the quality of the product. She let the people know she required actual consumption ratings not hearsay. The delivery criterion was questioned by each person she called. Marge explained that we came by cab from our boat so delivery service was a must. No one she phoned was sure about delivery because they pick the pizza up themselves.

We wait for the neighbors to locate the phone number of their favorite pizzerias. Meanwhile Andrew tried to let his fingers do the walking through the yellow pages. It was hard to the find the establishments by the names used by locals, for example “the one on the corner by the store”.

Andrew called each number provided and reported”no delivery”. The Green Acres process of ordering pizza for delivery disproved the ‘three times is the charm’ theory. Finally after many phone calls the order was placed.

While waiting for Domino's to deliver, we looked at Marge’s birthday photo album, Andrew dislodged the CD jammed Marge’s CD player and I obtained Lucy’s Lemonchello recipe.

We had a lovely visit. I left knowing why Marge was one of my Mother’s best friends. She’s a sweetheart.
